Complex is a round from the card game Trix. Four players, one deck, thirteen cards each. It's a negative game, every card you end up with is worth minus points, and the whole point is to take as little as possible (bas sometimes its better to intentionally take control).
Setup
- 4 players seated around a table. Play goes counter clockwise.
- Standard 52 card deck, no jokers. 13 cards for each player
- Whoever's dealt the 7♥ owns the first Kingdom and picks the round order.
- The Kingdom owner opens the Complex round by leading whatever card they want and theres time for anyone that wants to double
Nakham sits in the south seat (hay inti walek). Yara north, Widad west, Tala east. Nakham owns the Kingdom in the hand you're about to play, so she leads first.
Card Ranking & Follow-Suit
Weakest to strongest, within a suit:
How each latsh plays out:
- The leader throws any card they want. That card decides the suit for the round.
- Everyone else has to follow that suit if they have one.
- If you don't have the suit, you throw whatever, but off-suit cards can't win.
- The highest card of the led suit wins. Whoever won takes all four cards into their pile, and leads the next one.
The Four Penalties 🐤
All four are live at the same time. Anything you take that fits one of these knocks off your score.
totals −500
Doubling 🐤
Before anyone plays a card, there's a doubling phase. Five cards can be doubled: the K♥ and each of the four queens (each held by its owner)
A doubled card cuts both ways:
- Whoever ends up taking it pays double. K♥ becomes −150 instead of −75. A doubled queen becomes −50 instead of −25.
- eli bedabel gets a bonus — but only if it lands in an opponent's pile. Double the K♥, dump it on someone else, you get +150.
